Cape Breton Island is on the north-eastern tip of the province of Nova Scotia. Known for it's breathtaking landscapes, the Cabot Trail is a scenic road that circles the perimeter of the island, passing forests, and dramatic coast lines. There are many beautiful and well-maintained hiking paths and look-outs along the Trail.

Family winter vacations were often a toss-up for us - ski or sun? After a series of ski holidays we decided it was time for some fun in the sun. What better place than Costa Rica, where we could lay on the beach and have some adventure. We chose Playa Grande as our base and did day trips from there.

Halifax is the capital city of the province of Nova Scotia on the eastern coast of Canada. It is a modern, urban city, is home to several universities and is known for its maritime history. It is a good base for exploring Nova Scotia - including the picturesque and historic small towns along the Atlantic coast.

We love California and in particular, Los Angeles. It is so vibrant and has many interesting neighbourhoods, great beaches, excellent museums and fantastic shopping. It is one of our families' favourite destinations. We always have fun in Lala Land!

Florida is an easy get-away from Toronto. In just a short three hour flight you are swept from a cold and dreary winter to a tropical beach with sunny weather. I have been to many parts of Florida, including theme parks with our kids, as well as the lovely west coast, but South Beach in Miami is always fun and with lots of things to do.

Montreal is the largest city in the Province of Quebec in Canada. The official language of Montreal is French. It is one of the oldest cities in Canada. Old Montreal, maintains the charm of a French European town, while the downtown area rivals any big city. It's a great place to visit with a beautiful waterfront boardwalk, interesting shops and boutiques, good museums and lots of delicious restaurants.

You can never get tired of New York. There are countless things to see and do no matter what your travel style. We love visiting any time of the year.

This trip is very special to me. I went to New York with my youngest son and my mother. We had a glorious time exploring the city, taking a food tour, having good meals and seeing a show. I will always cherish the memories from this trip.

The 450-mile drive from San Francisco to Los Angeles along the Pacific Coast Highway, also known as Route 1, is spectacular. It is one of America's iconic road trips. It runs along the rugged coast, by mountains, beautiful state parks and charming towns. Definitely one of my favourite trips in the U.S.

I've been to Palm Springs several times. It's a great destination during the long winters in Toronto. There is something very therapeutic about the desert. I love the gorgeous backdrop of the mountains and the tall palm trees everywhere you look. There is great hiking and even some nice museums to visit.

Sometimes you just need a break from life. My husband and I recently got back from two days (one night) in Prince Edward County, which is a short couple hours drive east of Toronto. We both returned feeling rejuvenated and relaxed.

PEI is one of Canada's eastern maritime provinces.  It has become famous around the world as the pastoral setting of the children's book, Ann of Green Gables. The island is dotted with red-sand beaches, lighthouses along its coast, small charming villages and lots of farmland. The Prince Edward Island National Park encompasses 40 narrow kilometres of beaches, dunes, cliffs and inlets.

The wonderful thing about San Diego is the weather - it is consistent throughout the year, warm - but not too hot - and sunny year-round. That's one of the reasons it's a fantastic destination any time of the year.

There are great beaches, museums, outdoor activities and of course the world-renowned San Diego Zoo.

San Francisco is a unique city - it's hilly and is surrounded by the Pacific Ocean and San Francisco Bay. It's known for the iconic Golden Gate Bridge but it has so much more to offer, including lots of fun ethnic areas such as its famous China Town and Latin American neighbourhood, great cycling, vintage cable cars, many museums and lots of great restaurants.

On our annual girls trip this year, my cousin, mother and I ventured out to the desert town of Scottsdale, Arizona to get some sun. Although we had a couple of rainy days, we still managed to have some outdoor fun - visiting museums, art galleries and enjoying good food.

I love the desert and Arizona is a great destination to get some sun during the dreary winter months. Although we had a couple of rainy days in Sedona, we still managed to have some outdoor fun in the beautiful red rocks of Sedona - hiking, touring and exploring.

This was my first trip to Northern California - which included Sonoma County and Napa, Northern California's wine region. We enjoyed tours of the wineries, art, hiking and excellent restaurants.

My mother, cousin and I do an annual trip together. We decided to meet up in Washington, DC for a long weekend in May. Washington was lush and green with many flowers and shrubs in full bloom. It is the quintessential capital city, with manicured lawns, monuments and many interesting museums to choose from.
